Earning badges and fulfilling scouting requirements
Weekend programs and special events about nature, biology, and wildlife topics, as well as stargazing and living history programs, fulfill some requirements of scout badges. The park’s scheduled programs are open to the general public and scouts are invited to attend. However, scout group registrations are NOT accepted for the park’s public or regularly scheduled programs that require reservations.
Scouting or badge workshops are offered periodically, and troop, den, or pack registrations are allowed. Please confirm your group’s availability before making a reservation.
When calling in a group reservation, the leader’s name, address, and phone number will be requested, along with the attending scouts’ names and phone numbers.
Naturalist-led scout talks and forest tours for groups of at least 10 (excluding siblings or chaperones) must be scheduled before 4 p.m. during the week. Should your group count not meet the minimum requirement of 10, we suggest you pair up with another den, pack, or troop.
Teachers’ in-service days and school holidays make great opportunities to schedule a group visit to Jones Park.

Service projects that benefit the local environment and are inline with Jones Park’s mission statement can fulfill the requirements for scouts working on their Eagle, Gold, or Hornaday Awards. These service projects can also satisfy scout groups general service projects.
Project ideas need to be presented to the park staff at least six months prior to the due date.
