This 2/3-mile paved trail section extends from Gessner Road east along Buttermilk Creek (just north of Emnora Lane) to a turnaround behind Northbrook Senior High School, and accommodates students, hikers, bicyclists, strollers, wheelchairs, and scooters.
The segment from Gessner Road to Rosefield Drive is approximately 2700 feet long, and the segment from Rosefield Drive to the turnaround is approximately 900 feet long. The entire trail length is 10 feet wide, allowing for safe passing from both directions. The crossing at Rosefield Drive is at-grade, and signs on Rosefield warn motorists of the potential for pedestrians and cyclists to be crossing the road.
For access to the trail, park at the Hillendahl Neighborhood Library at the corner of Emnora Lane and Gessner.
